Fort St John Association for Community Living

Our Mission Statement is:
"Fort St. John Association for Community Living supports adults with developmental disabilities to achieve full and meaningful lives in our community by providing resources to individuals and families."
Supported Employment Services
At the Fort St John Association for Community Living we believe everyone belongs and we believe everyone is entitled to “real work for real pay.” We do not label people by their disabilities we assist in helping them strengthen their abilities. Our Careers program works with adults whom have developmental disabilities to be a valued part of their community.
We believe that everyone has something to contribute.
We offer customized employment, it is a flexible process designed to personalize the employment between a job candidate and an employer in a way that meets the needs of both. It is based on an individualized determination of the strengths, needs, and interests of the pre-screened candidate, and is also designed to meet the specific needs of the employer. It may include employment developed through job carving, entrepreneurial initiatives, or other job development or restructuring strategies that result in job responsibilities being customized and individually negotiated to fit the needs of the candidate and the employers needs.
If you are interested in hiring someone, we will work hard to assist the employee and the employer in making it a success. A job coach will come with the individual and work beside them until they feel comfortable, the employer feels comfortable and then gradually phase out. Once we have phased out, we are still here to ensure the success for you and the employee. We will check with the employer and employee regularly to address any concerns or training issues. This is at no cost for you. We have an extensive matching process with an average of 90% success rate.
To begin, we can start on a 2 week trial basis to see if the job is a successful match for the employee and employer.
